Scott Pohlschmidt was born in Chicago, Illinois, December 15, 1973. At Depaul University, Chicago, he was awarded four consecutive merit-based Dean's Art Scholarships to attend the Fine Arts program where he graduated with a Bachelors of Arts. In 1997, after receiving a travel grant from Depaul University, Scott began his atelier training at the Charles H. Cecil Studios in Florence, Italy; a school of fine art in the naturalistic tradition, with an emphasis on accurate observation and a thorough understanding of the classical techniques of drawing, painting, and sculpture. After his first year at the studio, he received a grant from the Charles H. Cecil Charitable Trust, enabling him to continue his studies. Scott became very much involved in the sculpture studio, transposing the atelier approach and classical technique used in drawing and painting to sculpture. He taught advanced students to grasp the complexities of the human form. He also lectured on modeling, anatomy, and mould making. He completed his training by producing a variety of ambitious representational works, many of which are now in private collections in America and Europe. Scott currently divides his time between London, Florence, and Chicago.
